Something Old…….Something Blue

View On Black

Part of the challenge with photographing dragons and damsels – in fact all insects – is finding them perched on something a little more interesting than the usual resting spots. These fading leaves provide the perfect contrast for this male Blue-tailed Damselfly (Ischnura elegans)/

Up until this year I had no idea there were so many different species and seeking them out has become a bit of an obsession (I blame flickr!). Needless to say I am extremely grateful to be living down south where there are so many of these species to discover.

Taken with Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG macro
Manual focus. Hand held.
